Saint cirq Lapopie
Discover an exceptional site situated in the Lot, Quercy, situated in the jewel-case of Lot and Célé valleys and the limestone plateaux.
Chosen as the favourite village of the French, Saint Cirq Lapopie is a medieval village classified as a Grand Site.
It contains 13 historic monuments including its fortified church.
Perched on a rocky wall above the river, it offers the viewer its brown tiled sloping roofs, its little cobbled streets, its Gothic facades, and its artists’ and craftsmen’s studios. Saint Cirq Lapopie enchants artists and it was the surrealist poet and author André Breton, in his home there, who declared “I’ve ceased wanting to be anywhere else”.
Saffron has bloomed in Saint Cirq Lapopie since the middle ages.
